Day After Day

"Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present."   Bil Keane

Another month has come and gone. And believe it or not I am right up to date with my tangle*a*day calendar. I've chosen my three favorite pages from February to share with you. For this first page I played around with a new tangle by Lynn Mead called Phroz. I tried it two ways, one with the triangles in a totally random placement, and one with the triangles laid out in rows. Then I added some Fassett, another tangle by Lynn, as well as Paradox.

For the next one I began with Ozzie in the middle. I had never used this tangle before and thought the calendar would be a good place to try it out. I really like it because of the high contrast. Then I added Printemps and Antidots around it.

I was really happy with the way the following one turned out, except for the numbers. I outlined the numbers with a Moonlight gelly roll pen in orange. Those of you who know the Moonlight pens know that it's a bright neon orange. However, the scanner pretty much washed the color out of it completely. I tried doing everything I could in Lightroom to get the color back, but nothing worked. So you'll just have to imagine the neon orange numbers! The tangles I used were Footlites, Floatfest, Inapod, and Kandysnake.

I expect that I'll be back at the end of March with some of my favorite pages from the month. In the meantime, happy March. Hopefully spring will be here soon!

Days of Our Lives

"I don't wait for the calendar to figure out when I should live life."     Gene Simmons

Just stopping by to share a few more pages of my tangle*a*day calendar. If you missed my first post about the calendar and care to see it, check it out here. After doing the first couple of pages, I realized that I don't really like tangling the numbers on each page. I like how they look when tangled, but doing them feels stressful to me rather than relaxing, as Zentangle should be. So for the time being I've decided to outline the numbers in color instead. For this first one I used the Sakura gelly roll gold shadow pen in green. I also added some color to spots in my Beelight pattern using the same pen. It makes a gold line with green around it - not sure if you can see that in this photo

For these two pages I outlined the numbers with a red pen and then added some shading. This is a two page spread in the calendar and since the first page includes curvy patterns, on the second page I decided to go with angular patterns.

I'm only one day behind on the calendar right now, but I often do the three squares on a page at the same time. So proud of myself for keeping up so far!

Happy New Year!

"Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."      Oprah Winfrey

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope that your year has gotten off to a great start.

A new year means a new calendar. Two years ago I bought a tangle*a*day calendar by Carole Ohl, CZT. If you're not familiar with it, you can check it out here. There's space to do some tangling for each day. I started off great...and then fizzled out. I made it through March, and then just couldn't keep up with it, and I think I eventually forgot about it.

So last year I decided not to buy the calendar again. But this year I'm giving it another try. I really like the paper for tangling, and I like the idea of adding something to it each day. Now I just have to remember to do it! Maybe I need to write a reminder on my other calendar to remember to tangle this calendar.

I'm showing you my first two pages here.

And closer up to show the details better.

So far, so good. I'm up to date. We'll see how long that lasts!
